Home Sweet Home
Emigration is becoming the quintessential experience of our time. Home Sweet Home is a documentary videotape which examines the concept of home in relationship to American values and myths from both an anthropological and philosophical perspective. It is compromised of interviews of emigres from different socio-economic backgrounds both in America and abroad, in an attempt to let them tell their own stories. Ranging from a Polish family living in Canada and America, to a South African emigre living in Toronto, to a professor working in Buffalo, but living part-time in her "home" Alaska, to a world traveler and philosopher, the tape concludes with thoughts from someone who has never traveled and never wants to leave "home". The significance of this project is to identify alternative meanings of what it means to be "homeless".
